Anything for You (Blue Heron #5)

Publication Date: December 29, 2015
Publisher: HQN Books
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Goodreads Synopsis:
Before you get down on bended knee…
…you should be pretty darn sure the answer will be yes. For ten years, Connor O’Rourke has been waiting for Jessica Dunn to take their on-again, off-again relationship public, and he thinks the time has come. His restaurant is thriving, she’s got her dream job at Blue Heron Vineyard—it’s the perfect time to get married.
When he pops the question, however, her answer is a fond but firm no. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Jess has her hands full with her younger brother, who’s now living with her full-time, and a great career after years of waitressing. What she and Connor have is perfect: friends with an excellent benefits package. Besides, with her difficult past (and reputation), she’s positive married life isn’t for her.
But this time, Connor says it’s all or nothing. If she doesn’t want to marry him, he’ll find someone who does. Easier said than done, given that he’s never loved anyone but her. And maybe Jessica isn’t quite as sure as she thinks…
5 / 5 Stars
There’s just something about Kristan Higgins’ contemporary romances that make me smile. Actually, it’s everything about her romances. They’re filled with fun situations and characters. They always make me laugh and smile. Anything for You continued the tradition.
In Anything for You, we get a look at the secret romance that’s been going on for years (I know! I couldn’t believe it either!) between the town’s favorite chef Connor O’Roarke and bad girl Jessica Dunn.
Connor’s never wanted to keep their relationship a secret, but Jessica’s had her reasons and he’s respected that. Now, he’s ready to take things to the next step. He’s going to ask her to marry him and show her means forever.
But Jessica doesn’t want to get married…or does she? She says no, but watching Connor’s twin Colleen work her matchmaking magic has Jessica reconsidering her answer.
It was so much fun to go back in time and watch Connor and Jessica fall in love. I loved Connor’s ability to see the good in Jessica and look past her high school bad reputation. The way he supported and stood up for her made me swoon. His patience with Jessica over the years was just so sweet!
Getting know Jessica was my favorite part, though. She’s always just been the mean girl who slept around in most of the Blue Heron series. It was nice to see another side of her, the side of why she does what she does. Her relationship with her brother was so touching. I loved her want to protect him.
Anything for You was just so much fun to read! I absolutely loved it. There was just the right amount of humor mixed in with the more serious aspects of the story. I loved learning more about Connor and Jessica, while still getting to see some of my favorite characters from past books. I also loved meeting a few new characters, too. (Lady Fluffy might just be my favorite new character in the series!)
If you love contemporary romances, the Blue Heron series is one I highly recommend. All of them could be read as standalone romances, but they’re even more entertaining when read in order.
Other books in this series:
I adore Kristan Higgins (as you know) and I adore the Blue Heron series! My fave is still The Best Man 🙂

My favorite is Waiting on You. I thought it was so funny. Then, it’s In Your Dreams because of the personal trainer lady. I know one of her in real life! Did you read this one yet?

she did say there might be a Blue Heron novella but that this felt like a natural stopping place for that series. I am sure whatever she comes out with next will be hilarious and swoony! 😀

I sure hope so! I was kind of hoping for a crazy Pru book, though. (That was the older sister’s name, right?)

I have never read one of her books actually, but I think I should start, because this one sounds really nice. Do you recommend to read the other books in the serie first?

I love the entire series! I would probably start with the first one and go on from there. You do get to see some of the same characters along the way. My favorite in the series is the third book.
