The OTP Book Tag

http___www.pixteller.com_pdata_t_l-324125

I’m back with yet another tag. 🙂 This time I was tagged by Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions for The OTP Book Tag. Thanks, Cristina!

Now, get ready for some relationship love.

17788403 1. AN UNPOPULAR OTP THAT YOU SHIP

**SPOILERS AHEAD** Ridge & Sydney. Before you scream at me about the fact that 1) Sydney is a hypocrite and 2) Ridge is a cheater, let me explain myself. Yes, both of those points are true. I don’t think either of these parties is blameless or perfect. What they did was pretty crappy. They didn’t fight their attraction as hard as they should have. They should have taken themselves out of the situation before anything happened. Several people got hurt. They got hurt. This kind of thing happens in life all of the time. It doesn’t change the fact that I think they’re right for each other. Wish it would have happened differently, but it didn’t. I think the multiple points of view may have swayed me on this cheating story more than others because I could hear their thoughts.

18807019 2. AN OTP THAT YOU DIDN’T SHIP BUT NOW YOU DO

Nolan & Reed. I blaming Reed for this one. He got off on the wrong foot with me and just kept being a dumb jerk. It took a really long time for me to love him. Nolan, on the other hand, I loved from the beginning.

69363821 3. YOUR MOST HATED OTP

Or the one that makes me a hypocrite.

**SPOILERS AHEAD** Anna & Étienne. He has a girlfriend. She knowingly pursues him despite this fact. He then cheats on his girlfriend. So how is this different from Maybe Someday? I’m not sure if I can even really explain it well. I guess it comes down to intent. Anna was purposefully chasing Étienne despite the fact he had a girlfriend. Sydney was trying not to act on her feelings. It’s not the best reasoning, but it’s all I’ve got.

15858248 4. AN OTP THAT TOOK WAY TOO LONG TO GET TOGETHER

Caroline & Simon. Okay, I’m kind of lying because I loved the way the story played out. But I did want them together from the very beginning, which they weren’t. So that counts, right?

27242522 5. YOUR FAVORITE NON-CANON OTP

Jake & Bridget. They were so darn cute together. I wouldn’t mind a book about them. (Hint, hint – James Ramos!)

272527176. YOUR FAVORITE BROTP

I have to agree with Cristina on this one. My favorite BROTP is the relationship between Garrett, Logan, Dean and Tucker from the Off-Campus series. I love the easy friendship these Briar University hockey team players have.

10818853 7. AN OTP YOU ADORED IN THE BOOKS BUT NOT AS MUCH IN THE MOVIES OR TV ADAPTATION

Ana & Christian. Ugh. I hate admitting this. It’s worse than admitting you love Twilight. People JUDGE if you say you liked Fifty Shades of Grey. I am going to admit that I loved this OTP while reading the book years ago. The movie? Not so much. Actually, not at all. Ick. I’m not sure if it was the actors or the fact you don’t get the emotions behind it all? I’m sure it would have been better if Charlie Hunnam would have been Christian. Just saying.

30904658. A POPULAR OTP THAT NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY YOU JUST CAN’T SHIP IT

Edward & Bella. This is actually kind of new and funny to me. I enjoyed reading all of them years ago. Well, except for Breaking Dawn. I didn’t like that one. I know Stephenie Meyer made it all work out for everyone in the end, but I still can’t past the vampire thing. Edward is dead and cold. Like a dead fish.

25686927 9. YOUR FAVORITE LGBT+ OTP

Jamie & Wes. I love these two guys together! It’s such a great story of friendship and love. And it’s a more mature look at things since it’s a New Adult rather than Young Adult romance.

22669832 10. YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE OTP

Kate & Keller. I love them. I wish I could have more of them.

The Coffee Book Tag

pablo

I was tagged by the lovely Raven @ Dreamy Addictions for The Coffee Book Tag. This tag is perfect for me coming from the land of Starbucks. So thank you, Raven!

Black: A series that’s tough to get into but has hardcore fans.

134961

It’s an amazing series, but there are so many characters to keep track of and so much going on it can be daunting. I’ve had a couple of friends give up on it pretty quickly. They just watch the HBO show instead.

Peppermint Mocha: A book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

20309175

I read this book when it came out a couple of years ago, but I always see it pop back up on people’s blogs during the holiday season.

Hot Chocolate: A favorite children’s book.

276939

I love a lot of children’s books. I’ve read so many of them in the past eight years. I can’t decide which I love the most. One of the most fun to read out loud is Wet Dog. The pictures are great, too. My daughter still loves it.

Double Shot of Espresso: A book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

18209468

This book was so intense for me that I kept having to put it down to take breaks.

Starbucks: A book you see everywhere.

21414439

I feel like I’ve been seeing Truthwitch all over the blogosphere lately.

That Hipster Coffee Shop: A book by an indie author (a shout out)

24500775

Ginger Scott

Oops! I Accidentally Got Decaf: A book you were expecting more from.

18775203

I thought it would be more upbeat and funny. I loved the first book in the Cocktail series, Wallbanger, but it’s sequel was a little lacking.

The Perfect Blend: A book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

17325147

I loved Left Drowning. It was heart wrenching and beautiful.

Green Tea: A book or series that is quietly beautiful.

224293501

This one kind of snuck up on me. I didn’t know it would be so amazing.

Chai Tea: A book or series that makes you dream of far off places.

12115448

Hawaii is my personal paradise. 🙂

Earl Grey: A favorite classic.

40440

It was published almost ten years ago, so I’m making it my favorite “classic”. I don’t read much classic literature.

The Alphabet Book Tag

http___www.pixteller.com_pdata_t_l-323919

I was tagged by Jesse @ Books at Dawn for The Alphabet Book Tag. If you haven’t checked out his blog, you should. It’s a lot of fun to read. Thanks, Jesse!

The Rules:

Pick a book that is on your shelf or one that you have read in the past and fill out each letter of the Alphabet. The idea is to use books that you have either read or that are on your TBR list.

The books that are underlined are books that I have read and the rest are books that are on my TBR. I tried to pick books that I love and enjoyed that I haven’t talked about much on my blog or TBR books that I am dying to pick up soon.

The Sunshine Blogger Award

pablo (8)

This is tag is a mean reminder that rain has been forecasted for the entire week in not-so-sunny Seattle. 😦 It’s a bummer because we had three sunny, springlike days last week. I’m ready for more sun, less rain in my future. Anyways. Rain or shine, thank you to the lovely Arec @ Rainy Thursdays for nominating me for The Sunshine Blogger Award. So sweet of you!

 Rules for this award:

  • Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate some wonderful bloggers and write 11 questions for them to answer.

Arec’s Questions:

1.Disney or Dreamworks?

Both! (I can do that, right?)

2.Do you consider yourself a feminist?

According to Wikipedia, Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women.[1][2]This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.”

I totally support the rights and equality of women, so I must be a feminist. I’m not out there campaigning for women, though. So maybe I’m not really sure how to answer this question.

3.Book adaptation or movie adaptation?

Book. Well, as long as the book comes first. If it was written after the movie, then forget it.

4.Do you do anything else while you are reading?

Sometimes I have music going or I am eating lunch/dinner or I am watching TV or reading on the treadmill. Depends on the day.

5.How often do you write review for books you haven’t actually finished?

Never. Well, unless it’s a DNF and I feel the need to say why for other readers.

6.If you can have one thing in the world, regardless of price, etc. what would it be?

Ooo! This is a hard one. The first thing that came to mind was a body like Britney Spears back in the day. Lol. But I like chocolate and tacos.

7.What do you think about women who don’t want to have children?

I think it’s great that they know themselves well enough to know having children isn’t for them. Having kids is hard. You have to devote part of yourself and your life to someone else for at least 18 years. That’s a big commitment. If someone doesn’t want to make it, then they shouldn’t be judged. There are a lot of people out there (men and women both) who have kids and shouldn’t.

Now, I have to admit I feel a little sad for people who choose not to have kids. There are a lot of rewarding things about having kids. I can’t imagine life now without my daughter. I think they’re missing out a little, but at the same time, being a mother or father isn’t for everyone.

8.Do you have an special talents?

I can tap dance.

9.Name one time where you have been scared out of you mind.

One time when my husband was in the hospital and they weren’t sure what was wrong with him. (Hereditary high blood pressure)

10.Do you believe in soulmates?

I don’t know. Maybe? I like to think you meet the right person at the right time in your life. Like, if I would have met my husband at 18 instead of 23, I’m not sure it would have worked out for either of us. (I can say that because I actually knew of him when I was in my teenage years.) And even though I dated some crappy people in my late teens and early twenties, without them and the experiences we had, I wouldn’t have been who I was when I met my husband. I think he’s the perfect person for me. So in that way, I think he’s my soulmate. I like to think we complete each other.

11.What is the one thing you cannot leave your house without (no cellphones please!)

A jacket with a hood. You never know when it’s going to rain in the Pacific Northwest and true Washingtonians don’t do umbrellas.

My Questions:

  1. What was the last book that shocked you?
  2. Favorite boy band?
  3. What song are you playing on repeat lately?
  4. What book are most anxiously waiting for?
  5. What is your favorite kind of potato chip?
  6. Who is the first person you would call after meeting your favorite author?
  7. What was the last book you read that you absolutely loved?
  8. If you could have any job, what would it be?
  9. Who is your favorite TV character?
  10. What is the last book that made you laugh out loud?
  11. Do you believe in ghosts? UFOs? Aliens?

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

http___www.pixteller.com_pdata_t_l-318719

I was tagged by Melissa @ In a Bookish World to complete the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag. I think I’ve done this one before, but it’s been a while so I thought I would do it again. Maybe my answers have changed. 😉 Thank you, Melissa!

 1. A popular book or series you didn’t like.

13528340

Well, I can’t say I hated it. I loved it until about 2/3 of the way through and then I hated it. I didn’t read the rest of the series after that.

2. A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love.

17788401

Okay, so not everyone hates this book, but there are just as many people that hate it as there are that love it. I’m in the love category, obviously.

3. A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with (warn people for spoilers) OR an OTP that you don’t like.

69363821

(Is it just me that sings OPP by Naughty By Nature every time I see OTP? I’m weird, I know.)

OTP: Get ready to boo me. I didn’t like Anna and Étienne St. Clair. No matter how unhappy the dude was, HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND. Ugh. It just ruined it for me.

4. A popular genre that you hardly reach for.

Again, get ready to boo. Fantasy. I’ve liked the ones I’ve read that were recommended to me, but it’s not a genre I gravitate towards.

5. A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

10507293

America. She was okay in The Selection, but I wanted to knock her upside the head in the 43 pages I read of The Elite. Yet another popular series I didn’t finish.

6. A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

22557272

Sorry, Paula Hawkins. The hype around The Girl on the Train ruined it and possibly your future books for me. We’ll see…

7. A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s popular, but I truly dislike the whole student-teacher relationship trope. I know I’ve said it before, but some boundaries shouldn’t not be crossed. This is one. Maybe it’s because I’m parent now, but I have to trust teachers. No way I want my daughter pursuing/being pursued by a teacher. I don’t care if she’s an eighteen-year-old high school senior and he’s twenty-three. Boundaries!

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading.

18660669

I think I read my vampire quotient when I finished reading The Twilight Saga.

(BTW, I was double checking the meaning of quotient to make sure I was using the right word and this example sentenced popped up: And since the WTF quotient is so very low, some see it as, well, masturbatory.”  Um…huh? I wonder who they let write that definition sentence? Kind of scandalous, if you ask me. 😉 )

9. The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

6101718

I’m digging Syfy’s version of The Magicians more than I remember enjoying the book. Not that I didn’t think the book was good, I just like the way they’re bringing it to life. (And I do have to admit I never read past book 1.)

There you have it, my unpopular opinions. Hopefully, I didn’t offend anyone.

I’m going to tag the following people. Feel free to ignore if you’ve already done the tag or aren’t interested in it.

Ashley @ What’s She Reading?

Claire @ Art and Soul

Carrie @ reading is my superpower

Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions

Inside Out Book Tag

pablo (11)

I was tagged for the Inside Out book tag by Lois @ My Midnight Musing. Thanks, Lois! I haven’t seen the movie yet, but my daughter loved it.

A book that brings you joy.

25943218

Mackenzie Fire by Elle Casey had me laughing so many times. I loved it!

A book that brings you sadness.

17833493

When it Rains by Lisa De Jong was the last book I bawled reading.

A book that brings you fear.

18242896

I have to admit that I fear a mosquito born plague like the on in Ann Brashares’ The Here and Now. I can totally see how it could happen. Scary stuff.

A book that brings you anger.

3798703

The ending of Tim Tharp’s The Spectacular Now frustrated me so much. There was a little bit of anger mixed in with the frustration.

A book that brings you disgust.

60748

I probably should have picked A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer for my anger choice. I was disgusted by Dave’s mother in this memoir. It was painful to read.

I feel like this tag should have ended on a happier note. Oh well.
